[PTabbedContent] [PTab=POWER] [attr="class","appcon"]Abilities: Shapeshifter[attr="class","appcon"]Explanation of Power: Gavin comes from a long line of shifters. The Blackwells are a family of forest cobras- also known as naja melanoleuca- they are born from an egg and can simply transform into humans. His natural form is a seven-foot long snake with black scales, and off-white stripes on his belly. The venom of his breed of cobra is a neurotoxin, and extremely deadly with the ability to kill someone within half an hour. His species is aggressive, and bites can cause symptoms such as drowsiness, paralysis of some limbs, hearing loss, the inability to speak, dizziness, shock, stomach pain, fever, and other neurological and repertory symptoms. Death can occur rapidly upon envenomation in severe cases. In a blur of darkness, Gavin can transform into a human being, the same form every time. Though the illusion is convincing, there are some key feature that set him apart from most human beings. His eyes remain somewhat serpentine, and he still has fangs that he can use. He doesn’t have as much control over such features in his human form. Along with these things, Gavin’s tongue is slightly longer than one would expect, and he has the ability to communicate with snakes in his adolescent-boy shape. His powerful bone structure usually guides people back in the right direction, but at first glance it can certainly be confusing. With such soft eyes- despite their sometimes serpentine shape- and a smile upon his face, Gavin comes off as very sweet and gentle looking. Tall and lanky, he typically is looking down at those around him, but Gavin doesn't come off as intimidating in the slightest. His stance is casual and cool to match his laid back personality. To contrast the straight hair of his brother and father, Gavin has dark brown, nearly black wavy, beautiful locks that fall past his shoulders. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=PERSONALITY] [attr="class","appcon"]Likes: Drawing, art, cooking, nature, gardening, experimental music, concerts, video games, fantasy novels, smoking marijuana, psychedelics, poetry, tea, spring time, sushi, brightly colored clothing choices, meditation, people watching, comic books, manga, listening to modern music on vinyl, playing the piano, fire staffing, skating[attr="class","appcon"]Dislikes: Cigarettes, keeping his room clean, the cold, Republicans, confrontation, large fires, pop music [attr="class","appcon"]General Personality: Being the younger of the Blackwell children, Gavin is rather timid and quiet. He has an affectionate and kindhearted soul, and is a selfless giver at heart. Being more of a momma’s boy, and a victim of his father’s bullying, Gavin learned early on to be tender; this caused him to stand out completely against his aggressive and animalistic family. With a general dislike for his family’s ideals, Gavin strayed and took an interest in spirituality and meditation. Wise beyond his years, the boy has a calm and peaceful energy about him. He is very connected with the earth and life around him, always observing and being mindful of his surroundings when the situation calls for it. Despite this awareness, Gavin is also a dreamer, with his head often floating in the clouds above him. He often has great ideas that he likes to express with his drawing, piano, and other art forms. Though introverted, Gavin is very easy to get along with. He doesn’t initiate social interaction much, but is always willing to spend time with his friends. The people he spends his time with are all very different, and he isn’t attracted to a certain kind of person- as long as they’re intellectually stimulating in some way, shape, or form. Due to being so quiet, the boy is quite mysterious, a trait that can be found intriguing. His physical beauty attracts only those with open minds, which is helpful in his patient pursuit of love. Gavin looks for a mate in many types, gender not being a factor in his eyes. The boy is a very open, mindful human being that can get along with just about anyone. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=HISTORY] [attr="class","appcon"]Family: Valerius Blackwell (father), Catherine Blackwell (mother), Sebastian Blackwell (brother)[attr="class","appcon"]History: The second born son to the rich and powerful Valerius Blackwell,The second born son to the rich and powerful Valerius Blackwell, Gavin has experienced a life unusual to most. A member of a long line of cobra shifters, the boy grew up in a extensive, gothic, vintage mansion along the coast of Florida with his father, mother, older brother Sebastian, and various other members of the Blackwell family. It is typical of those who are snake mutants to gravitate towards warmer climates, due to their cold blooded nature. Though Gavin and his kin can survive in cooler climates- if they stayed primarily in their human form- it is not nearly as comfortable. And since the Blackwell members' primary form is their cobra body, most of their time is spent as an animal. Quite a few other species reside in warm areas Africa and Asia. The other draw to Florida is the expanses of land that are available to them. Any place too urbanized would not be good for hunting spaces. Hatched from an egg, Gavin spent the first two years of his life in his snake form, and was very quick to learn to transform into a human. It had been different for his brother- the older boy hadn't turned into a human until he was four years old, for it seemed he felt natural, comfortable, and powerful in his serpentine form. These initial, seemingly involuntary instincts that happen in the early years can say quite a bit about someone. When Gavin was only three years of age, his father began training him and Sebastian. Together, the two learned how to hunt, swim, climb trees, speak to other snakes, as well as transform into and out of their human form with ease. He learned skills necessary to survive and succeed with his given gifts. However, as Gavin aged, the training began to get more difficult. Around the age of seven, his father began forcing him and his older brother how to fight. A shy, tender boy, Gavin showed mo interest in fighting others, but he wasn't given a choice. Against his mother's wishes, Valerius Blackwell forced the boys to grow stronger as cobras. Though his brother was skeptical at first- only being eight, after all- Sebastian quickly grew to love combat. Taking more interest in books, art, and music, Gavin failed to improve physically, and he grew up to be the weakling. Because of this, his father pushed him harder, against his will. Matthew beat him and scolded him, determined to have two sons that could make him proud. The younger sibling took comfort in his mother, who was a powerful woman, but with a kind heart. Though she couldn't stand up to her husband, she was able to provide Gavin with comfort and support when he asked for it. Gavin and Sebastian's relationship was filled with struggle. Always hidden by the older boy's shadow, Gavin often went unnoticed by others. The two of them were homeschooled up through elementary school, and were not allowed to make friends outside of their family. While Gavin did his best to take sanctuary in his room, or escape to the gardens to read, his older brother often got bored, and frequently came looking for trouble. Though Sebastian embraced Gavin's presence, it was only typically in a rude and demeaning kind of way that often ended with Gavin getting himself beat up. The year that Sebastian left for intermediate school was filled with mixed feelings. For Gavin enjoyed not having the bully bothering him. However, there was backlash. With the older brother's absence came more of his father's attention. It was a long year, one filled with rigorous training, exercise, and flat out abuse. The next year, Gavin followed his brother to the same intermediate school. Going from being homeschooled to a mixed gender's boarding school was a shock. He learned lot about life, and himself, as well as excelled in his school work. The school, however, was a combat and power usage based system, and this is where he failed. Refusing to participate in mandatory tournaments got him in trouble on multiple occasions, and he received quite a few furious letters and phone calls from his father. Gavin was mainly friendless in this school (which was typically composed of red and green ribbons) One day, towards the end of his last year- he was about 13 at the time- Gavin realized that he no longer wanted to have anything to do with his father, the Blackwell legacy, or their family business. He came home and calmly and firmly expressed these feelings towards his father, and while it was ugly, it had the desired effect. Matthew Blackwell basically disowned Gavin as a child, and rarely speaks to him or about him. Often times, he is invisible. The time spent back at home, Gavin is free to do as he pleases. Though the majority of his family looks down on him, there are no longer any expectations of him. Sebastian gained all of the responsibilities of their family wine (and drug dealing) business, along with the pressure of being his father's only son. The summer Gavin was practically deemed invisible by his father was the summer before he began his time at Phoenix. The academy is much more suited for Gavin, for they don't force combat of any sort, and are fine with the students making their own choices as long as they are sure to protect themselves and those around them from harm. In his first two years at Phoenix, Gavin got really into his art, spirituality, mediation, and creativity. He's made a few friends, though is still pretty quiet and doesn't typically place himself in social situation. Though he is still welcome home over the summer, Gavin stays completely out of his father's way, but spends lots of time with his mom. The two have a very close relationship. As for Sebastian, the two typically avoid each other at school. Occasionally, his older brother will go out of his way to tear him down in some way, but for the most part, Gavin finds himself being ignored. beat him and scolded him, determined to have two sons that could make him proud. Upon the collapse of the realms, Gavin was exiled from the Blackwells, due to Valerius' distrust of him. He stated that he simply could not have the boy around in these trying times. Therefore, he fled to a little house in Brooklyn with a garden out front that he spends his time tending to. For income, his mother still sends him plenty to get by with, but he also works as a bartender at High Dive. He is neutral as far as the bigger picture goes, and avoids as much confrontation as he can. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}] [PTab=ROLEPLAY] It was official: Gavin's sleep schedule was fucked up beyond repair. With classes coming to a close, and finals coming near, the boy's hours were a bit different. He would pull an all-nighter to study for an exam, go to class, come back and then sleep until 8 in the evening. So yeah, it was late at night on a school night, and Gavin was wide awake. He didn't have a test the next day, but he did have class, which the boy was dreading. It wasn't that Gavin didn't want to go to his classes, for he loved to learn, he just wasn't looking forward to going to his classes whilst exhausted. Being mindful of his breathing, letting it steady him, Gavin sat in the lounge on the first floor, watching the fire crackle away in the fireplace and reading a book. There was something extremely calming about the popping and flashing of the orange and white light. It was perfect background noise as he read. Since there weren't too many folks awake, Gavin took the liberty of spreading out a bit on the couch, back against arm rest, legs elongated and taking up the rest of the piece of furniture. In between his thigh and the couch cushions was his sketch pad and pencil and pen bag, which he had been messing with earlier. Also stored on the couch was a bag of potato chips that he was munching on, doing what he could to fill his perpetually empty belly. Human food wasn't very filling, unless it was good, hearty meat. And while Gavin disagreed with hunting, he pretty much had to once or twice a week in order to survive. Not to mention, since the cobra was his natural form, mana was used up every second he was a human. It couldn't be held infinitely, and after a while, his pale skin would fade, almost looking bruised, he would begin to grow scaly, and then he would snap, and return to the naja melonecula. Feeling a growing discomfort in his bladder, Gavin stood up to head over to the boy's restroom. While he imagined there would be no one there, he was terribly terribly wrong. A disturbing sight was waiting for him: a sickly looking boy with throw up in front of him, and who would be towering over him? Sebastian, his very own flesh and blood. Damn it all to hell. An extremely small portion of him considered just turning around and walking out. Only bad things happened when he got in his brother's way. But Gavin knew what it was like to be in Richie's shoes. And he refused to do nothing. "C'mon, Sebastian, stop...." Gavin spoke in a low, quiet voice. His tone was neutral. His brother laughed. "Oh, isn't this fucking rich?" his brother sang, standing up to greet him with a teasing smile, "Is there enough room in this school for two fluffy headed idiots? Fuck off now, won't you? I'm busy making friends." Gavin took a few steps towards the scene, "I'm.. I'm not leaving. How weak are you that you have to prey on someone while they're sick?" Sebastian snarled, threw his cigarette in the vomit puddle, and walked over to his brother with all traces of a smile completely gone. The next second, Gavin felt himself get knocked off center. Using inhuman speed, the elder Blackwell delivered him a solid punch to the nose. There had been a crack. The green ribbon let out a cry upon contact, hand going up immediately to nose. On top of breaking his nose, why did he have to also wear those damn rings on his finger all of the time? "You'll never learn, baby brother," Sebastian hissed and grabbed him gruffly by his hair, yanking him backwards so that Gavin was looking up at him, blood running down his face, "It doesn't matter if you are sick or in health, I will always be stronger than you." Dead, hazel eyes looked up at Sebastian. His words no longer had any affect on him. Not at this point of his life. He had heard and felt it all. This pain was all too familiar. His brother behaved more and more like his father every day. Sebastian released him, pushing him downwards. Gavin collapsed from the shove, falling to the floor. "You're as pathetic as all of these humans," Sebastian said, tossing a glance in Richie's direction. The older boy turned and began to leave, "Always have been, and always will be," he called over his shoulder. The door closed behind him. Panting, Gavin stood up slowly, trying to calm himself down. He groaned a bit, his nose quite broken, "God," he said, standing up shakily, turning to a mirror to look at the damage. Yeah, he was going to need to see a healer. The boy walked over to Richie and sat down next to him, "Are you okay?" he asked, his voice not steady, still struggling through the discomfort, "You don't look well, I'm afraid," he said, looking the sickly boy in the eye. Poor new kid, this was the second Blackwell with blood on his face coming to question him. "I hope he didn't hurt you. I'm Gavin, by the way. You're new, aren't you. I saw your audition-" Gavin smiled, and blood trickled over to the corner of his mouth, "I liked it." (I was too lazy to write something new) [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][/PTabbedContent={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}] |
