CHARACTER TYPES

Gifted people are those humans who are able to absorb and use mana with the help of a ubeity. Before the realms collapsed and the world as we knew it essentially ended, the gifted were in hiding. From past incidents (the Salem Witch Trials) it became abundantly clear that humans were not ready to live in a place where 'magic' actually existed. Despite the volatile nature of some gifts and the fact that about .5% of the population was gifted, it was fairly easy to keep the 'gifted secret'. The moment that Bolas attacked that all changed. The gifted were more prepared for the destruction and chaos that Bolas brought and now there is a far more even ratio of human to gifted humans.

Humans had it the worst when Bolas came through. He had no mercy for their uselessness and attacked large cities for the fun of it. Still, those humans who had gifted people in their family survived, as did the ones who were simply resourceful and smart enough to make it in this changing world. While humans do not have gifts, they are not entirely helpless. Many have adapted to the new world and now that they know about the gifted and the realms, many are also very willing to join the cause against Bolas, if only to get things back to the way they were.

Some of the realm creatures are intelligent and humanoid enough to coexist alongside humans and gifteds within the cities. These creatures include succubi, fairies, vampire creatures, winged angels, and many other species. Most prefer not to take a side, not very concerned with human issues. However there is conflict among the creatures from different realms. They were not meant to coexist, but now they must. Some are able to, some...well some just don't want to.
