Plot Think Tank

Hey guys! So I'm really sorry for being a sucky admin and not having everything explained as well as it should be. I'm going to start getting everything together now and I figured that I should maybe start with a Think Tank of sorts! Which means that you guys get to ask questions, make suggestion, and try to plot here as well! So let's get started!

Some important topics I want to cover:

1) The setting and the state of the world (I feel like everyone is not on the same page as far as what their character's have access to so I want to clarify that)
2) The Guard and the Rebels (gotta get them down and provide a structure in which we have active characters in charge of both of them)
3) Ideas, give me your ideas! I love having other people's input!
4) Group THREADS! Yeah, I remembered how much I like them so I want to get them going again. Give me some ideas for how those could come about and what the best formats would be!

This is basically a place to ask questions and make demands! Feel free to post anything that comes to your mind!

I'm pretty new to this site but I'll admit I am a little confused as to just what the state of the world is. I was wondering if someone could clarify. I mean, since there are still bars and stuff I'm guessing it's not a total end of the world scenario but I was curious as to just how much things have changed.

So the way I designed it is that there are very few resources except for those who are extremely wealthy and loyal to Bolas. There's no cable, no internet, no movies. The people of new york are literally connected to the people of new york only. All the resources they have come from the things being rebuilt in the city.

Utilities: Electricity and gas and sewers were set up by those who came to rehabilitate the city, but they are extremely faulty and often go out, especially outside of Manhattan. Most places in Brookyln only have limited access to electricity and a lot of the buildings were never set up for any utilities aside from very limited access to gas lines (for cooking not for heating the rooms) and electricity. Sewers and water are slightly more reliable but still go down a lot.

The Streets and Buildings: The houses and all buildings are overgrown with foliage and the roads are pretty much destroyed (no one has cars or vehicles unless they are extremely rich). Landlords are people who took over and now charge whatever they want for places but don't really maintain them. Some people live in abandoned places but they are not on the "grid" where they will have electricity.

Transportation: Pretty much everything is around the water because the only real form of transportation is the ferry between manhattan and Brooklyn. Walking is the most common way to get places otherwise. Traveling by vehicle in Brooklyn is pretty difficult due to the condition of the roads.

Resources: This area is rich with green realm gifts and so markets and greenhouses have been set up where people can get their food. There are some shops, but they're more like market vendors selling goods that they have made and specialize in. Bars exist but then people who run them make the alcohol pretty much, haha. People in Manhattan have access to more luxuries but there are still some things that will never be available.

Jobs: Most jobs are in the markets, in maintaining the grid, in working for Bolas' city control or in communication. There aren't entertainment jobs(except for like temptation because that's not something that needs to be broadcasted on tv so I guess there could also be theatre things but they wouldn't be raking in the money unless they were there for the rich crowd)

Communication: No phones, no internet, no tv, nothing that broadcasts. The only thing that exists for communication aside from letters is a government communication system for the government and for warning the city, but those are radio based and don't extend outside the city. If the proper resources are collected some people can make their own radios but they obviously aren't very secret. Usually underground organizations(rebels) have to use code to speak over them. So yeah, radio and letters are the only forms of communication.

Ah thanks for that one. So how would you say communicate with someone in another city? For instance, Casey and his brother are really close but Cody is in San Francisco where as Casey lives in Brooklyn. Would letters still work in that case?

He'd have to find someone who can communicate that way with their gift, like a mirror seer or something, or he'd send letters somehow but they might get lost
