[PTabbedContent] [PTab=POWER] [attr="class","appcon"]Abilities: Flight- Delphine has gossamer wings, a bi-product of her and her ubeity being so closely bonded. They are fully functional and are capable of flight. She can also tuck them in and fold them by wrapping them around her torso. Spirit Healing- Delphine heals through life energy or life force [attr="class","appcon"]Explanation of Power: She can heal people by healing through the spirit and energy of life. Think of it this way, the energy that runs you, also runs the world. Your body, spirit, and mind are all parts of you. Who you are, though, your soul is what defines you, your hopes, your dreams, your effort in life are you, and the body in which you preform them is simply a vessel to carry your desires out and to protect you. This energy flows through all living things and can be taken or transferred from one thing to another. A body without a soul or spirit is a corpse. It is dead. The spirit is what keeps it alive, contradictory to many human scientific beliefs, what they mistake for what keeps you living, alive (organs, breathing, eating) is simply what maintains the body (or vessel) like fuel in a car to keep it going. How do they say that breathing is what keeps you alive when in the next breath, they can declare someone “brain-dead” and ask for someone to ‘pull a plug’ because they are doing nothing but forcing a corpse to breath. The energy that maintains your spirit keeps you alive. Where humans were taught to maintain the body, Fairies learn to maintain the spirit through the energy of life. Delphines ability allows her to see the spirirts of the living and the energy inside them, and in the air. Everyone or every living thing borrows this energy for the time of their life and gives it back when they die. This energy keeps their soul sealed into their body. Where many humans may disagree, they study medicine and their form of healing on dead bodies. It does not sound crazy that they might have missed something. Delphine sees that energy and gathers it in the purest form (The light you see in her hands when she is healing you) and feeds it back into the body, healing the wound from the inside (the spirit) out (the vessel that heals as a bi-product) That is why the wound is healed . She heals the source instead of treating the symptoms. In order to establish a connection between the two spirits (Hers and the one she is healing) ,She must open her own spirit up, leaving her vulnerable to get very hurt. Any wounds established during the healing process may never heal, or never heal right. This puts her at greater risk than the one she is healing but if the damage is severe enough it could transfer through to the person. Also, if the person is severely depressed or negative, or just in a lot of pain, the feeling of pain and depression could transfer over to Delphine. However, this could also work in a positive way with good feelings and emotions. Delphines parents Oberon and Tania knew she had ‘the sight’ When she was born. They called her the life of the people and started teaching her to know her powers before she could walk. Through constant training exercises of the body and mind, starting from singling out one of her siblings spirits in the fae village, to counting every spirit individually , learning to transfer a positive feeling to her brother Foster, pulling life energy from objects, transferring energy from a dead leaf to a living and back again, and then starting from smaller mammals and plants to finally humans. Her training took her about the first 100 years in her life. Through the next 50 years she was given the freedom to explore her powers in any way she wished. She used that time to heal everything or anything hurt or sick that came to her. Her parents and brothers always encouraged her to do push her limits. Her last 47 were with her human adoptive-parents. With years to practice her powers, her strong point in her spiritual connection with her powers she feels would help many of the students in a point in their powers, they tend to struggle with the most. She can teach students that these powers are not a separate part from them, but in fact the powers are them. And to accept themselves, they need to accept their powers. She can relate to them and feel their pain, she can help them to balance their powers through meditation and help spiritually connect them to their powers. Because her people , the fairies, are so bonded with their ubieties, they have the wings of the ancestor ubieties. It also means the weaknesses of their ubieties are also their weaknesses, and some things get to them the way they would get to their Ubieties. True, she has beautiful gossamer wings but, she is heavily allergic to Iron and Steel and she cannot have milk or cream. (it is toxic to her system and can make her disoriented and drunk in a sense in light doses ) [attr="class","appcon"]Ubeity: ADD UBEITY IMAGE HERE (optional) [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=APPEARANCE] [attr="class","appcon"]Height: 5’4 [attr="class","appcon"]Hair Color: Red [attr="class","appcon"]Eye color: Bright leaf green [attr="class","appcon"]Play By: Bryce Dallas Howard [attr="class","appcon"]General Appearance: Delphine is small in size and frame. She has a build like a ballerina, slender and soft but toned. Her skin is an Ivory white, which means when she blushes, you will know. She gett’s flushed easily and her pale complexion is striking against her bright green eyes. Her eye’s carry her liveliness, her bambi stare, the gentleness that when accompanied by her voice could lul a ferocious lion to sleep. She appears frail to most, with an almost maternal aura to her. She has soft features with high cheekbones and wide bambi eyes with long lashes. Her bright red/orange hair is a strong contrast against her skin tone making her skin appear brighter, as well as complementing her eye color. Her gossamer wings are thing and iridescent. They are about 4ft from the tip of the wings to the bottom of the wings. They are very flexible and pretty durable which is surprising given how thin they appear, which is also thanks to her ability to heal herself, if her wing tears or breaks, it’s not broken for long. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=PERSONALITY] [attr="class","appcon"]Likes: Children, Butterflies, Wild Flowers, Peace, Friends, Animals [attr="class","appcon"]Dislikes: Death, Chaos, Destruction, Seeing others abused, Not being able to help others. [attr="class","appcon"]General Personality: Delphine could always see the spirits around her. Where that allowed her to advance her powers, it also made her different from all the other Fae children in the village. She never understood what set her apart from the other fae children and her family wanted to keep it that way. She was very sheltered and as a result, she is still very gullible and innocent. Her parents where strict in her upbringing and raised her to be a proper ruler. Violence was never something that attracted her but it was always a possibility that one day she would have to defend herself so, as precious of cargo as she is, she was taught how to defend herself from her older brothers Foster and Kalin. She always saw light and hope in situations (must be in her nature) and hates negativity. She has seen the effects of negativity on the soul and it is like smoking for the soul, may feel good, give you some sort of twisted high, but it does nothing but damage you. She hates to see other people hurt. As a healer, she tries to fix anything broken or hurting and offer help to those in need. Delphine does not know what happened to her people, after so many years, she assumes they are dead but without answers it left her with so many questions. She is ignorant to many human customs and sayings. She finds some customs insulting or contradicting to her own but is passive enough to ignore most. For example, if you would want to say thank you to her, you give her something to remember you by, if you were to simply say “Thank you.” It means you are sure to forget what she had done for you, which is an insult to her culture. She is full of Fairy tales and folklores she wants to share. And she has a strong maternal instinct. Since losing her son in the chaos of the city, she has grown depressed and has diminished energy in her bitter state. This is not a permanent feeling, for the most part having better days than others.[/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=HISTORY] [attr="class","appcon"]Family: Father: Oberon Nyx (deceased) Mother:Tania Nyx (deceased) Siblings: Kalin (deceased) and Foster Nyx (deceased) Children: Leaf (Son, missing) [attr="class","appcon"]History: Of the fae: Fairies are descendants from people who had isolated themselves back in 400 BC as a Celtic nomad group. They had made deals with their Ubieties to be sheltered from the changing violent world and as a result were changed. Their leader was the first to bond with his ubiety and helped the others to bond with theirs. They fled to a new continent given wings by the ubieties to cross the continents to run from the violence of the changing world and revel in the world of spirits. By setting up camps around natural portals to the realms led by the ubiety of their lead druid they were able to establish a common place with the Ubieties. A Ubiety bonds with every fae child as they are born and grow up learning to establish their bond with their spirits (what they call ubieities). They call themselves Fairies because that was the name of the first Ubiety that gifted their leader. The leader Nomads name was Nyx. So they named their forest home the forest of Nyx. Delphines story: “Can you see him?” Oberon whispered as the little red headed Delphine tried to focus on where her big brother Foster was hiding. “Can. You. See. Him?” He was putting pressure on Delphine on purpose. She needed to learn how to work under pressure though, as she was only a mere four years old, it was a difficulty she did not need. Oberon pressed on. “Look with your spirit, not with your eyes. You have to feel it. You can not hesitate.” But as Delphine could not see him, she began to tear up. So Oberon relented. Dissatisfied, he withdrew from the exercise for that day. “We are finished today.” He said in complete disappointment and turned to leave. Delphine tried not to cry. “I am sorry father, it is just so hard to see him beyond the other spirits.” She said sniffling. That caused Oberon to turn back “Other spirits?” Oberon asked, turning back. “There are no other fae folk in the forest.” He said sternly. “I see every spirit father, all the trees and flowers, each blade of grass. I see them all.” Delphine said with tears starting to spill over. This lead to extended training times and more challenging exercises. Delphine was fifteen. She was trying her hardest to stay on her feet as a solid punch connected from Fosters heavy fist to Delphine’s delicate chin. She stumbled back, her jaw beginning to throb. She shook as she was exhausted and to the edge of collapsing. “You were not listening to me Delphi. Little babe, find it in yourself to keep going. I can not protect you forever. You must fight for yourself.” He caught a feebly thrown punch and did not hold back with his next knee to the gut. She felt the breath knock out of her as she hit the ground. No, she did not hit the ground. For Foster had caught her. “Shh…shh… There there darling.” He said resting her on the ground. “Heal yourself and rest a moment. Then we will start again.” He said getting up to leave. Kalin was knocked back as Delphine spiraled in after him, aiming for the bread basket. He stumbled back opening his wings up to shoot into the air, dodging her next attack. “Come get me little babe.” Kalin teased as he shot out of the tree tops. She followed after in an amazing speed tucking in her wings and jumping from branch to branch catching him by the wings and slamming them in between her hands. He fell after that, low branches braking his fall as he hit the forest ground. A groan escaped Kalin as he pushed himself to his feet, stumbling as he wiped some blood up from a fresh gash above his eye. He smiled as Delphine delicately landed beside him, not showing him that she too was exhausted. He let out a low chuckle giving her an approving nod. “I think you are ready for Foster.” She was 23. Tania gracefully paced around Delphine as she watched Delphine transfer life force between a dead leaf and a living leaf. She watched as the living leaf withered and wilted to become the dead leaf and the dead leaf seemed to heal from the inside out, becoming a beautiful luscious green. She did not show her amazement. “Again.” She snapped and she watched the process repeat. Delphine was 35. “Remarkable.” Oberon said as he watched a dying bird suddenly spring to life in the hands of his daughter. “Remarkable, and frightening.” He murmured, keeping his distance from the young fairy so she did not see him. She was 55. “Stand my dear. It is alright, it is no longer broken.” Delphine helped a youngling who had broken his leg. Cautiously, he stood. A smile spread on his face as the pain was gone. She loved to see the people happy. “Now go and run along.” She said with a smile as she went to stand. She caught the boy shyly run away to the group of his friends. She watched him as he ran off to play, her smile fading. She couldn’t remember a time when she was able to do such a thing. She was 120 as she realized it. The fire roared in her ears, she remembered the wild flames grabbing at her clothes, the smoke filling her lungs. She looked up and saw nothing but flames. She went to let out a shriek but instead, gagged and gasped. She collapsed to her knees. She took the life force out of the grass below her to gain the strength to stand, as she stood a flaming branch broke off and came tumbling down towards her. She was too weak to run. She closed her eyes. Foster had bolted through the flames, taking Delphine into his arms and ran. She looked up as he looked down at her. She felt a wave of calmness. It would not last long. He put her down next to the stream. He looked at her sadly, managing a smile. He brushed some soot from her hair and kissed the top of her head. “Stay here.” He whispered. “Stay safe. I will come back.” A promise he would never keep. She was 150. After waiting for what seemed like hours she could not stand it. She got up from the place Foster had put her. She ran through the smoke and flames. “Foster?” She called out. “Foster, where are you?” The flames seemed to be calming down but the smoke seemed to engulf her surroundings. She began to wander aimlessly. She heard a crackle behind her. “Foster?” She couldn’t see any spirits. “Hello?” A tree came tumbling down. She barely even had time to scream, stumbling back from the tree, falling back and hitting her head. The world went black. She was still 150. “Oh my god…” The woman could not believe what she was seeing. “Are those…Wings?” This would be her future adoptive mother. The woman’s hands began to tremble. “She is not burned either… we…we need to tell someone… we need to call someone or…something...” When she looked up at her husband, the fire fighter who had found Delphine, her bright eyes dulled as she came back to her senses. “No, no…” She said looking down at Delphine. “We can’t tell anyone…” After that they raised her into human cultures and sent her to Phoenix to help her ‘mend her two worlds to one’ She was 196. She moved to the city from there where she found a child wandering the streets. She found out he was an orphan who (at only 3 years old) managed to escape multiple times from the orphanage just to wander the streets. Delphine learned over time that he was fae and adopted him, wishing to raise him in the manners of fae( and because she loved him). She worked as a Librarian in the Pheonix Academy for a small time before the cataclysm. Since the Cataclysm she has ducked low, gone into hiding and had tried to keep her son safe. However, she lost him in Manhattan, forcing herself to be out in the streets more, searching for her child. She is now 198 [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}] [PTab=ROLEPLAY] Delphines heart slammed into her chest. Her eye's frantically scanning her surroundings, people going along without her, simply keeping their heads down, keeping to themselves. Unmoved by the mother's teary eyes and frantic searching. "Please my son, I'm looking for my son." Yet no one bothered to even glance up at the red head. "Please, I need to find him." She could see the brown hair of the child among the crowd. Her eye's locked onto it. "Leaf!" Yet when her hand fell onto the boy's shoulder, it was not him. Delphine closed her eye's, trying to seek him past the crowd perhaps if she could pick up his life energy... perhaps... her eye's squeezed shut a headache throbbing. Her eye's opened, watering with tears. Then, a small hand wrapped around her own. She glanced down at the small boy at her side. "I'm sorry mommy. I found a butterfly. I tried to catch it for you but, it got away." his sweet delicate voice filled her ears. A rush of relief found it's way coursing through her as she scooped the boy into her arms, kissing his forehead, both cheeks, his nose. She held him close but as soon as she released a breath, the weight lifting off her chest... Delphine awoke, tears long cried out and her son long gone. How she had wished her dream to be true, how she had for just the moment believed that her boy had come back to her, had found his way back to her with a silly innocent excuse. Yet, that was wishful thinking. Delphine could not afford to wish for anything if she wanted to find her son. It was simply not a time or place to do such a thing. Not anymore.
