[PTabbedContent] [PTab=POWER] [attr="class","appcon"]Abilities: Ray makes gravity more or less intense.[attr="class","appcon"]Explanation of Power: Raylon has the ability to increase or decrease the downward pull of gravity either in an area or centered around something in particular. If he is acting on a specific body the object or person's size limits how much he can increase its gravity. The most he can manage to increase is three times normal gravity on an object roughly the size of a soccer ball and an extra fifty percent on the average person. Lessening the gravity is more uniform across the different sizes, generally between one half and two thirds of normal gravity on single targets If Ray is exerting his power over an area the strength is dependent on the size of the area. A space two meters in diameter can be up to one and a quarter times as heavy as normal. He can make this slightly greater by focusing the power into a smaller area To actually use his power Ray must focus on whatever or wherever he wants to affect. Direct line of sight is necessary at the begin with, but upkeep just requires Ray to think about the area to keep it under the power's influence. Regardless of if he keeps focusing, the power can not be maintained from beyond ten meters and for no more than thirty seconds. Grass matting under its own weight and other such effects of the gravity are the only visual signs of his power in use. He has a somewhat pale complexion with hair that is a light blonde. There are only a few defining features marking his body, The first of which is a birthmark just above his tailbone that always made him self conscious. The second is far more recent. A scar in the form of four parallel lines (from a monster or some shit that he ran into shortly after everything changed) sits on his right shoulder. As far as facial features go Ray was told that he was handsome by a few. But he knew it all along. Why would he need someone else to inform him of such an obvious fact?[/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=PERSONALITY] [attr="class","appcon"]Likes: Picking fights, Art, Whistling, Acting out, [attr="class","appcon"]Dislikes: Being Mute, Authority, Bugs, The new state of the world, Killing, Winter (if that even still happens?)[attr="class","appcon"]General Personality: Silent since the day he was born, Raylon has alway had issues expressing himself. Aside from physically attacking someone or making an obscene gesture, that is. Actions speak louder than words, and all Ray can do to communicate is act.Due to the realization that his father was taken away by a branch of the government Ray has a deep hatred of nearly anyone who is in a position to tell him what to do, be it the police, teachers, or any other sort of authority. This might be the reason Ray goes out of his way to disrespect school staff and property. Aside from this personal disrespectful nature Ray's opinions are easy to sway if he is calm and receptive when talked to. In such a state he is a fantastic listener (as one might expect from his inability to communicate verbally.) But most of the time he is not in that kind of state. Mostly he is energetic, unruly, and generally disrespectful. This lack of respect and his interest in art with no outlet eventually led to him becoming something of a vandal. Graffiti mostly. Raylon did not see this as an issue, especially when could can pretty much hold whoever sees him in place with gravity until he got away. After the tragedy the world went through Ray discovered that he is soft. He could fight before, but in this world finishing the job has to be done at times. And That is where he heasitates (If he does it at all.) [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=HISTORY] [attr="class","appcon"]Family: Gordon Kessler, Father (gifted, unknown fate)Patricia Mcgregor, Mother (deceased) [attr="class","appcon"]History: Gordon never knew much about his father. All he found out about the man was that after an incident involving a propane tank and alcohol some men showed up and he disappeared. His mother tried to raise a good, respectful boy but Raylon was difficult to handle. The only thing that could make him sit in one place was drawing and later painting. Even then he would be focused entirely on the paper or canvass in front of him, singlemindedly thinking about every stroke of the pen or brush. At the age of thirteen Ray first accessed his power at in a physical education basketball game. Or rather, a dispute during one. Raylon had been harassing a fellow classmate for days prior until the added competition made the boy snap. A punch was thrown by the other boy which was ducked under. Ray then rammed into the kid shoulder first. Not hard enough to make the kid drop like he did, but damn, that kid hit the ground. It didn't stop there. The poor kid was pinned down to the ground. Some others attempted to help him up but just couldn't lift him. That is, until Ray ran out of juice and the boy stood up and just sorta ran. Three days later a man from the 'Gifted Security Council' came to explain what had happened and other things that Ray and his mother had to know. That was when Ray began to realize who took his pappy. Immediately Raylon's behavior worsened. A year in a school for behavior disorder teens passed with not infrequent power use before being sent to a school with others like him. It did not seem odd that it was just a few miles away in Point pleasant. Ray was frequently in trouble for his years at Phoenix Academy. Something about graffiti with messages aimed specifically at the academy didn't earn him any favors with the staff. But even with Ray's hatred of the institution that didn't mean he wanted what happened. Even with everything that followed, the toughest pill to swallow was that Phoenix was gone, nevermind the rest of the world. He did not linger, however. In the fallout that followed Raylon filled his backpack with notebooks, pens, two whistles, a knife, and various things he found a gun store and headed... somewhere else. Somewhere that didn't fill him with regret. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}] [PTab=ROLEPLAY] The necessities were all packed away in the bag. Food. Pens. Paper. A first aid kit, And some... other things that Raylon would hopefully never use. Heh, what a futile thought. With the all the boxes of ammunition his backpack had room left to carry, the mute's shaking hand reached to open the gun store's front door to the world outside. The other hand cradled a device that had no purpose other than to kill. It would only be used on animals, right? Once again, a futile thought. Where would he go? For the moment the answer was west into what seemed to be a forest Hours later Raylon heard a noise from behind him. The first since leaving point pleasant. So he turned to look what made the noise and nothing seemed to be there. Whatever it was had gone, maybe that was best for the both of them. Two steps followed and the noise continued. Ray was obviously being stalked and that was a terrifying thought. Raylon broke into a run and the source of the noise revealed itself: Some greenish brown thing that looked like a tiger without the stripes from the neck down, but the the horns on its head certainly set it apart. The thing was fast, too. In seconds it caught up to Raylon and dug its five inch claws into his shoulder. In part thanks to the power of the swipe the mute spun as he fell, landing on his back. The beast lunged, but as flight was eliminated only fight was left. Without thinking Ray pulled the trigger of his firearm without thinking -or aiming- and it caught the beast in the shoulder, causing the creature to double back. That was when Ray regained a sense of awareness great enough to pin his assailant down with gravity. A downward motion of his arm preceded the beast falling low, but not down. It roared seemingly in frustration as Ray pulled the trigger and drove a bullet in its eye. Movement from the cat ceased. Raylon felt physically ill to have taken a life, even if it was something attacking him. The wound he received would show to be superficial after he treated it, as well. Still scarred, though.
