[PTabbedContent] [PTab=POWER] [attr="class","appcon"]Abilities: Possession, tracking, and minor thought projection. [attr="class","appcon"]Explanation of Power: Possession / tracking / thought projection (sub-ability). Jax’s gift manifests in a few different forms and at a variety of levels. The majority of her power stems from her ability to leave her body and reside temporarily in someone else’s. (Her capabilities will be listed below, followed by a description of what she is capable of at the time, updating it as progress is made.) Tracking: Jax can leave her body, find a target, and see through their eyes. The length of time spent out of her body is a factor, as is the distance in which she is physically away from the other. Obviously, she can’t use this gift for infinite amounts of time, and her experience level dictates at what distances she can track someone. While simply tracking someone, Jax can only see what they’re seeing. No other senses are available to her. She cannot control their thoughts or actions, nor does she have access to their thoughts. The target does not know they are being tracked. She does not feel their physical or emotional pain. There are a couple different ways for her to track someone. If the target is in her vision, it is easy for her to project herself into them. There isn’t much of a need for her gift at times like this, however. The other option is that she have a solid amount of connection and or familiarity with the person (or animal) that she is trying to track. It is easier to track someone whom she is better acquainted with his or her spirit. The act of actually projecting herself into someone whom is out of sight is complicated, and can often go wrong, potentially leaving her in the wrong body, or causing her to be lost in a astral plane of sorts for some period of time. Sometimes, in moments of stress, confusion, or panic, she may accidentally slip into someone nearby her, especially if there is a strong emotional connection. There are methods that she can use to make the tracking process go smoothly. If she lies down and meditates and thinks deeply about her target, this will get her in the right mindset. Saying a mantra along the lines of “Find Gavin Blackwell. Find Gavin Blackwell,” over and over, or just simply saying their name will set her mind on the target. Her ubiety also deeply appreciates sacrifice- cutting her palm, lighting incense, fasting the day of, praying to her ubiety / realm, etc- and such will cause her gift usage to be more focused, powerful, and successful if done beforehand. While Jax’s consciousness is occupying someone else’s body, her own body becomes limp. It is better for her to be lying down as to avoid physical injury. If the body she is tracking gets injured, she feels no pain. If they die, she simply is rejoined to her own body. If her body is injured whilst she is tracking someone else, she will not feel the pain until she is rejoined to her physical form. And if she is killed whilst away from her body, Jax’s spirit will float around and eventually die. Possession: This portion of her gift could almost be considered a level up from tracking, as a lot of the ideas are the same. Possession is more intensive, as it involves Jax entering someone else’s body and taking control of them. She can gain access to all of the senses, control their actions, and speak for them. She can also speak to the target inside of their head. As with tracking, she does not have access to their thoughts or feelings. Unlike with tracking, however, the target will most likely be aware of the fact that they are being possessed. A small mouse will obviously be infinitely easier to control than a strong, gifted adult. Once the target is possessed, it is possible for them to fight off Jax, depending on their own strength. Since possession is a much harder form of tracking, it is difficult to possess someone at a distance. For example, while it might not be difficult to simply track someone on the other side of the school, possessing them at that length might prove to be a hard and potentially dangerous task. There are more risks associated with possession as well because of the increased connection. If the target is injured while Jax has control of them, she will feel the pain, though it won’t be inflicted on her body when she returns. If the target is killed while she’s controlling them, her consciousness will find its way back to her own body. If her body is killed while she is out of it, she will die, as will her spirit after an unspecified amount of time. The ritual for inducing possession is the same as tracking, though it requires a greater deal of concentration and skill. The need for sacrifice is greater. If Jax is initially just tracking someone- seeing what they’re seeing- she has the ability to push through a mental barrier and possess them, if her skill level allows. Thought projection: This is a sub-ability that Jax has in which she can transfer a thought to someone else. It should be obvious to the target that it is not their own thought, as it appears in a voice different from their own. The message has to be clear, short, and concise, or else this can get very complicated and jumbled. Under stress, or when Jax is having a strong connection with someone else, a thought may accidentally be projected to him or her if she doesn’t have enough control over it. No ritual is required this, only immense concentration, if they are in close proximity. The closer she is to the target, the easier it is. This doesn’t require her body to become limp, as she is not leaving her body, but merely projecting a thought onto someone. The only way to speak inside someone’s head when they aren’t in the same room is to possess them, in which a ritual is required and she will leave her body entirely. This portion of her gift can be tricky and is difficult to use well. Once again, she has no access to others’ thoughts or emotions. She has the ability (unrelated to mana or powers) to look like a man or a woman. Tall and fit, the woman takes care of her body in order to always look her best. As a young girl, she set a goal to have a six pack, and she has achieved such. While she's not stick thin, she is skinny and toned, from exercising. Her hair is at an ambiguous length that contributes to the confusion on her gender' it's considered short for a girl, but a little long and floppy for a boy. Naturally, her straight hair is brunette, but she occasionally will switch to blonde. Pale, blue eyes sit atop her beautiful face, which is modelesque to say the last. It is her powerful bone structure that is the main source of confusion as far as her gender goes. Most of the time, her appearance gives off a more masculine vibe, but depending on what business she needs to take care of, she can also take the shape of a beautiful woman. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=PERSONALITY] [attr="class","appcon"]Likes: Video games, going out, dogs, longboarding, looking attractive, winter, sleep, making music (electronic, DJ), working out, eyeliner, guns and weaponry, money, taking from the rich, adrenaline[attr="class","appcon"]Dislikes: Drama, organized religion, cooking for herself, relationships, disloyalty, hippies, neo spiritual ‘mumbo-jumbo’, close-mindedness, manipulative bitches, wearing dresses[attr="class","appcon"]General Personality: Suave and mysterious, Jax is fairly reserved in social situations, though she isn’t shy by any means. Due to her androgynous appearance and lower voice, Jax attracts a lot of attention, and while she doesn’t like to be bothered or harassed because of it, she doesn’t mind the attention. Folks are often confused as to her gender, or sexuality in general, and she enjoys making people question what they find attractive. Jax’s image changes every now and again, though she is usually seen as being butch with femme tones, leading people to wonder if she’s a feminine looking boy, or a masculine looking girl. Around those she doesn’t know, Jax is a very serious girl who usually keeps her thoughts to herself. If she is spending time with her friends however, she enjoys making people laugh, and can even be goofy under certain circumstances. She must be quite close with these people, however. Jax is a fiercely loyal friend who will protect her loved ones with great intensity. She is levelheaded, logical, and is strongly inclined to do the right thing. While Jax is a wonderful friend, where she really shines is in her ability to win people over. She is confident with her attraction to girl and finds females to be incredibly beautiful. When Jax sets her sights on someone, she is very skilled in seducing them, even the ladies who had thought to be straight. Though she is very kind to her targets, she is very upfront about not being interested in a committed relationship of any kind. Deep, emotional attachment like that is very unappealing to Jax. She doesn’t like to open up and talk about her feelings, and is terrible about shutting people out. She avoids dating partially to avoid drama, but her inability to stay with one person often causes just as many issues. Jax strongly dislikes catty drama and things of the like. Confident about who she is, Jax is often seemed as intimidating. Men typically avoid her, even for friendship, because they are made uncomfortable by her ability to confront and hold her own. The majority of her friends are seen to be girls, and she tends to like having multiple close friends as opposed to only one or two. As she grew older in adolescence, she also grew in power and confidence. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=HISTORY] [attr="class","appcon"]Family: Parents; Father: Nikolaus Roselle; Mother: Meredith Ledger; Siblings: Peter Roselle, Veronica Roselle, Adrian Roselle, Emilia Roselle, Jacob Ledger, Carmen Ledger, Daphne Ledger, amongst other half siblings she doesn’t know. All deceased. [attr="class","appcon"]History: Born in a small town in Texas, the first year or so of Jax’s life was fairly normal, despite being a gifted child. Her mother Meredith, a stay at home mom in her middle class family, raised Jax. Her father Nikolaus had to travel often for his job, and was not around much at all in her early years. While he was tending to the financial stability of his family, this left Jax’s mother to care for three children by herself- at this point, Jax already had two older siblings. Though the first year of her life was fairly painless, things got hectic rather quickly. Due to her gift, around the age of two, Jax would leave her body during times of great stress. All her mother could tell was that one moment her daughter would be sobbing over a bump on the head or something, and then would pass out, eyes in the back of her head, body limp. This was terrifying to Meredith for obvious reasons, and she immediately sought medical attention. The health professionals ran various tests and could not put their finger on the issue, and only suggested that she try to give Jax the most stress-free environment that she could. With this in mind, Mrs. Roselle kept Jax under control as much as possible, and as she grew older, out of extra curricular activities. In elementary school, she was homeschooled, and kept in the house for a good deal of the time. Wanting to live vicariously through her children (and not being able to with Jax), Meredith entered her son into sporting teams and entered her other daughter into beauty pageants, girl scouts, and things of the like. She grew to resent Jax and the effort that it took to keep her from having one of her episodes. Her father was extremely uninvolved in her life, and ignored the situation as much as possible. At the age of seven, Jax’s mother had twins unexpectedly. This put extra stress on the entire family. Less than a year later, her father left the family to live with a woman he had been having an affair with for months, in California. Jax has not heard from him since. The time period after this event was rough for the family. Mrs. Roselle freed herself of her responsibilities to give extra attention to Jax. She began to drink wine regularly as she raised the twins. During this time, the girl began slipping on her home schoolwork, and spent a lot of time unsupervised in her bedroom. She spent a lot of her time playing videogames and watching too much television that was far too mature for her viewing. All of this was with her brother Peter by her side. He and his friends, who were two years older than her, wasn’t the best influence. The two got along and spent a good deal of time together, but were never incredibly close. Not able to support her family, Meredith felt a great pressure to remarry. Being a fairly attractive woman, this wasn’t a difficult task, and she was married within two years to another man with more wealth than Jax’s father had. Her name was changed to Meredith Ledger, and with him came two of his children. The merging of families was uncomfortable, but the seven children somehow made it work. At the same time as this, Jax entered middle school, and attended public school for the first time in her life. Being a tomboy with a lack of social skills, the girl didn’t fit in very well. Not only this, but she was well aware at that point that she was a lesbian. Of course, she hadn’t told anyone but her brother, who urged her to keep it a secret. It wasn’t a secret to anyone else in the grade however, for most just assumed she was gay. These three years were quite difficult for her, and her powers acted up more than they ever had before. Often she would unintentionally project herself into someone else nearby, see out of their eyes- seeing herself in the process- and then return to her body slumped over, with everyone staring. Once again, her mother took her to various doctors, and they found nothing to be wrong with her. The episodes could not be induced. Her step-father, who was a psychiatrist, concluded that she was doing this to get attention, and her mother grew very angry with her. Confronted with anger she didn’t think she deserved, Jax and her mother often got in yelling matches, and she began to act out. At this point, her freshman year of high school, she had grown to be far less awkward made some friends. Jax and them got into a lot of trouble, and she became the angry teenager every mother dreaded. The combination of being abandoned by her father, her gift acting up, having various siblings, and her mother’s mood swings led to an unstable upbringing. At the age of fourteen, the Gifted Security Council became aware of Jax’s powers and approached her and her family. They told them of their options, and Mrs. Ledger was quick to send Jax off to boarding school. Begrudgingly, she had mixed feelings about the entire situation. Though she didn’t want to leave her friends, Jax was ready to leave her home situation and learn more about the strange powers she possessed that had haunted her all of her life. During her time at Phoenix, Jax transformed from a lazy, awkward, do-nothing student into an incredibly powerful, dangerous woman. With the help of mentors and friends, her gift quickly developed when she came to the realization that she did indeed want to master her gift. At school, she faced a bully or two that changed her way of thinking about the gifted world, and she blossomed wonderfully. Her skills increased greatly, as did her ability to deal with people. Upon the collapse of the world, she refused to choose sides and made the decision to lay low until the initial chaos died down. With her entire family dead, Jax turned a couple trusted (somewhat) students and decided to use her power to kill those she believed to be evil. This quickly turned from a heroic deed, however, to a desire for money and power. When she found she was good at taking baddies down, people started to hire her, and it went downhill from there. Though greedy, Jax is still a generally kind person to those deserving of it. Essentially, she is doing whatever she can to bury the fact that the world that she knows is gone. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}] [PTab=ROLEPLAY] The room was dim, with one fluorescent lamp radiating its white rays. Jax was in her workspace, which was a small, spare room that lacked much furniture. In the center of the room was a tall table in which she spread out a few necessary items for the process that was about to take place. Upon the surface, Jax set down a photograph of a young girl, and a vial of her hair that her client had managed to get for her. Yes, she was performing a ritual of sorts, but it looked far different than one of a voodoo queen. She never really cared much for mumbo jumbo, lighting incense and muttering elaborate curses. No, her and her ubiety had come to an unspoken agreement of sorts: all he needed was a way to identify the person, and her own blood. She was dressed in a suit and tie, with her now blonde hair sleeked back carefully. Having just come from meeting with her client, Jax hadn't taken the time to undress for the evening. Besides, she never knew whether or not she was going to have to go out again, quickly. Sometimes - not often - her rituals went wrong. Or sometimes, there had to be a personal followup in which she finished the job. Today was simple: locate a girl named Samantha Devine. Tracking was the easiest of them all. And now it was time. Jax sat down in a chair, preparing for when her consciousness would leave her body. She took a slim, slick looking dagger from the table and made a cut in her palm without flinching. And in a steady, strong voice, she spoke, "Find Samantha Devine." It was the same every time, the lurch out of her own body, being thrown out into the world. Then the darkness, and the quiet, and the sense of purpose, and drive. But instead of slipping into someone else's body, her thoughts just became stagnated. It was the strangest feeling, one that Jax had never experience. What was happening? What had gone wrong? Had she been given the wrong DNA? Or the wrong photo? Her soul seemed to wander aimlessly for five minutes before Jax gave herself a direction: home. And she was then thrust back into her own physical self. With a grunt, pale blue eyes flung open. She sat in her chair, staring at the photograph of the girl for a long time, puzzled. And then it hit her. Jax shifted uncomfortably in her chair, and a gave look fell upon her beautiful face. Carefully, she reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone. "Hello? Yes, it's me. I'm sorry to inform you of this, but Samantha Devine is dead."
