[PTabbedContent] [PTab=POWER] [attr="class","appcon"]Abilities: Mimicry & Emotion Projection [attr="class","appcon"]Explanation of Power: Anna has the ability to shape-shift to take the form of another individual. Her powers used to be difficult for her to control, but with refinement, she is now able to shift forms easily. However, Anna can only take the form of someone she has seen (a picture also works), and, of course, she is more able to more accurately mimic the look, voice, and mannerisms of the people she knows well. She can only take the form of other humans, and she cannot copy whatever powers they have. Additionally, Anna has discovered how to project emotions onto others. This power is a bit more unrefined than the previous, as it has only recently emerged within the past six years or so, and she hasn’t experimented with it much. With practice and concentration, Anna can cause others to feel what she is feeling – fear, anguish, excitement, etc. She must be either very close or touching the subject in order to project her emotions onto them. She sports a petite frame, with long, wavy black hair and dark brown eyes that give away her Hispanic heritage, though the Russian in her keeps her paler than most Spaniards would be. The blonde streaks in her hair were added during her senior year at Phoenix Academy, just for fun. Her wardrobe is very modern, due to her interest in fashion, and she tends to get a majority of her clothes online or as gifts, since her blossoming music career has kept her financially sound. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}][PTab=PERSONALITY] [attr="class","appcon"]Likes: Music, fashion, people, Atticus, hugs, romance novels, tic-tacs, spontaneity, trying new things [attr="class","appcon"]Dislikes: Mornings, non-fiction, tense situations, violence, coffee, lying [attr="class","appcon"]General Personality: While she may not be the most organized individual, Anna is sweet and adorable, attaching to people easily and offering earnest companionship to friends new and old. She’ll never admit her talent as a singer, but takes pride in her unique ability to juggle – a skill she picked up from her father. She has a secret obsession for romance novels and tic-tacs, and is a sucker for cheesy pick-up lines and poetry. Anna does whatever she can to make the people around her happy, and is very concerned with harmony between others, which can dangerously lead her to sticking her nose into other people’s business because of her overly-curious ways. Even if she has the potential to do wrong by others, Anna has a deep understanding that even gifted humans are still human, and is quick to forgive and even quicker to forget. She highly values honesty and will always speak her mind, sometimes even when not asked. She is typically an energetic individual, but suffers from pernicious anemia, meaning that her body has difficulties absorbing vitamin B12. Anna does her best to monitor this, however, she does have her off days where she just isn’t very lively at all. Anna’s near-constant companion is Atticus Jude, her high school best-friend-turned-sweetheart. One is rarely seen without the other, although the two do seem to make an unlikely pair. Anna will sometimes suffer from terrific nightmares due to a traumatic kidnapping experience in high school where she was taken to the blue realm and experimented on for several days. Though she tries to forget the incident, it still seems to torture her fairly often. She suffered a great deal during her childhood due to an abusive, alcoholic father in order to protect her younger siblings. Her powers were discovered during one of these instances, when she was taking violent blows from her father and she suddenly found herself able to take the form of her mother, which drove him to stop his assault. Anna began to work on her powers, using them as a tool to keep herself and her younger siblings safe from their abusive father until their mother finally put a stop to it and divorced him, pressing charges for child and domestic abuse. They lived with Anna’s aunt for a while until Anna’s powers were revealed to her family, and she was sent to study at Phoenix Academy with the hopes that she would thrive in a safe environment with people like herself. There, she met Atticus Jude, a surly teen who had pushed her away at first, but Anna’s persistence caused them to develop an unusual friendship. The two became close to the point that they were nearly inseparable, and eventually fell into a relationship, again mostly out of Anna’s persistence. Around this time, Anna’s music fell into the hands of a record company, and she began to sing semi-professionally. Phoenix Academy fell during Anna’s senior year at the school, after Atticus had already graduated and had been living in an apartment nearby. He came to find her in the chaos, and they fled the area together. Concerned for her family in New York, Anna asked Atticus to accompany her in her search for them. However, by the time she got to her family, they had already been slaughtered. Stricken with grief, Anna spiraled into a deep depression. She struggled to continue with her singing career and was dropped by the record company she had been working for. Anna spent the next year and a half in a kind of haze while Atticus settled them down in a relatively safe area in Brooklyn. When she finally pulled herself out of it long enough to pick up singing again, it seemed to help things. Anna worked privately for another several months before signing with another local record company to get back on track with her career. She isn’t celebrity-status, but her job allows her and Atticus to live comfortably. [/PTab={max-height:200px;min-height:200px;}] [PTab=ROLEPLAY] Anna woke with a start, shaking and sweating. It happened again. Laying on her back, she stared up at the ceiling above her, watching the blades on the fan mounted there spin lazily around and around, trying to steady her heavy breathing. The nightmares came and went in a monthly cycle, showing up to torture her for a few weeks before leaving her alone for a while. Stress could cause them to come back, too, and lately things had been a little busy with work, so that could have also been the culprit. Trying not to disturb Atticus, she slid quietly from the bed and headed down the spiral staircase of the loft into the living space of their cozy studio apartment. It wasn’t big, but there was enough space for the two of them to live without feeling cramped. The furnishings were mostly modern – who knew that Anna’s interest in fashion would lead her to a decent eye for interior décor? The wooden floor was cold under her toes as she moved to one of the larger windows, pulling aside the curtain to look out at the smaller buildings below. It was usually a nice view, but the darkness and the fog looming in the air made it just look bleak, not offering the comfort she thought it would. With a sigh, she dropped the curtain and returned to bed, but only to find that sleep would not come for the remainder of the night.
